Cable Routing - Cable Laying Methods

Displays when you select the Cable Routing > Cable Laying Methods tab from the Options dialog. The Cable Laying Methods grid lets you configure the methods for how cable is run in a specific raceway component type such as cable tray, conduit, duct bank etc. Bentley Raceway and Cable Management has a default method defined (Multi-Layer), but this section lets you define fill methods for specific raceway systems (components) which will be used to overwrite the default method.

Add Click to add a new overwrite record. The overwrite record will allow you to define the fill method for a specific type of raceway component which will overwrite the default method defined. By default, the name of the record will be Overwrite with a sequenced number appended to it (Overwrite 1, Overwrite 2 etc.). Click in the name value field to type in a more descriptive name if desired.
Delete Deletes the currently selected overwrite record.
Overwrite Properties In the Properties column, click the arrow icon next to Name to expand the properties of the overwrite record.
  • Method: When you click the in the Method Value field, you can either select a method from the drop down list, or click the Browse icon to display the Configuration dialog allowing you to select a method and/or edit properties for the fill method.
    Note: The Parameter fields are defined in the Configuration dialog when defining the Fill Method properties. When you select a Fill Method, these field are populated with the values defined. If no value is defined, they are left blank
  • Raceway Systems: If you click in the value fields of either the Raceway Systems, Catalog, or Variant fields and click the Browse icon, the Raceways Property Manager dialog displays where you can select the values for those fields. Once you have defined the values in the Raceways Property Manager dialog and applied the changes, the new values will be displayed in the fields.
  • Voltage Level: Select the Voltage Level from the list of predefined types.
Air Gap Distance Defines the maximum air gap distance allowable between a raceway and a segment of conduit entering the raceway while still being able to make a connection. This is also referred to as the Virtual Connection in the Raceway Router dialog.
OK Saves the changes to the Options dialog and closes it.
Cancel Closes the Options dialog without saving the changes. If the changes have not been saved, you will be prompted to do so.
Apply Applies the changes made to the Options dialog while keeping it open.
